Weekend 4: (10/20- 10/21)- Pisa

So the rest of the weekend took me to Pisa, another cute little Tuscan city that reminded me alot of Florence...just smaller. Of course, I had to see the Leaning Tower, which is pretty cool (pics above) and it was much nicer (weather in Pisa, than Florence- where it was pouring rain) so it was a successful trip! The Baptisery and the Duomo's in Pisa, were both beautiful, but neither as spectacular as those you see in Florence.

Catching a train to Pisa was very different than the other Italian cities b/c they run so frequently that your ticket says nothing but a destination and you can simply get on any of them- lucky for me since I missed the first one! The train ride was nice...there are very few tunnels therefore you can really take in the sights. And it only takes about an hour, so the time flies.

Pisa is fairly easy to navigate around comparitively and it's tiny, much smaller than the other cities I have been to. The shopping was fantastic and on my way to the other side of town [to the Piazza Dei Miracoli where the Duomo (Cathedral), Baptistery And Leaning Tower Of Pisa are situated, I stopped in to a couple of stores and picked up some much needed winter clothing. Europe is such a fun place not only for travel but for shooping-- you can wear anything you want here, it is such a fun feeling!

Anyhow, in Pisa after playing tourist for the afternoon, I ate dinner at a little restaurant called Trattoria S. Omobono, where I had great Proscuitto & Funghi (again, Ham and Mushrooms) pizza and vino della cassa - rosso (red house wine) before continuing on my way. Being alone allows me to travel quickly so I was on a train back to Florence by about 6pm. Home in time to get settled in for the night, finish cleaning the apartment (which I have been procrastinating on doing for obvious reasons!) and get to bed early.

Who knows what next weekend will have in store for me-- I am thinking Milan and Bologna, but we will see!! Paris is booked for the 9th!

Stay tuned
